Expeditions

We travel slowly, by sailboat, through places that are difficult to reach and impossible to understand from a distance.

The photographs, films and writing collected here come from those journeys: what we find, the people we meet, what happens aboard, and the things we understand differently after being there.

Transpacific 2026

In May 2026, Adak left New Zealand bound for Alaska.

The passage took us across the South Pacific, through New Caledonia and the Marshall Islands, and eventually north to the Aleutians. From Dutch Harbor, we continued east through Kodiak, the Kenai Peninsula and Prince William Sound.

This first season is as much delivery and reconnaissance as production. We are learning the boat, the coast, and the places worth returning to.

Alaska 2027

Following a winter refit in British Columbia, Adak will return to Alaska in spring 2027.

Our goal is to document Alaska over an entire season, beginning in Southeast Alaska while the fjords are still snow-covered before continuing west through the Aleutian Islands. By late August, we hope to reach Attu, the westernmost island in the United States.

Building on what we learned in 2026, the expedition will focus on creating authentic photography and footage of Alaska’s remote communities, working waterfronts, wildlife, and changing landscapes.

Help shape the expedition

We’re still refining the 2027 itinerary. If you know a place, a person, or a story that belongs on this journey, we’d love to hear from you.

Dispatches

Beyond the photographs and films, our expeditions become a starting point for conversations—about sailing, the ethical implications of what we witness, and the ways long journeys reshape the people who share them
